About the Artist
William Sheldon Parsons studied at the National Academy with William Merritt Chase. He established himself as a prominent portrait painter in New York and painted important figures including Susan B. Anthony and President McKinley.
Parsons moved West to Santa Fe in 1913 and, in 1918, he served as the first director of the Museum of New Mexico.
